Across two languages and two nations. A perpetual shift between images that relate to words, words that relate to objects, objects that relate to time. A constant moving forward, stepping back, looking to understand: a car is a car is a carro is a scar once you have a 9mm pointing at Marcella's face. A 2004 salvage Jetta, leather seats and power windows. A car that crosses from one nation to another, from a dormitory/party city to America's finest/labor city.
About the Artist
Omar Pimienta (Tijuana-San Diego) is an interdisciplinary artist who uses the lens of personal geography while working with media such as photography, video, installations, and text, among others, to explore social landscapes, collective and individual histories, and the spaces within/between the imagination and the image.
